TENELIGLIP 20MG TABLET contains Teneligliptin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetic drugs. It is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to control elevated blood sugar levels in adult patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
Type II diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease associated with abnormally high levels of glucose in the blood due to inadequate production of a hormone called insulin (produced by pancreas to metabolize glucose) or due to inadequate sensitivity of body cells to the actions of insulin.
Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP)-4 inhibitor. It lowers blood glucose levels by blocking the actions of an enzyme called dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP)-4 that regulates the secretion of insulin in the body. As a result, it improves insulin production and helps in the digestion of circulating blood glucose. It can also regulate blood sugar post meal by controlling glucagon secretion.
